I think it's easy when you are an artist to feel a little self conscious about some of the things you do. There are just some things us artistic, creative types do that perhaps wouldn't be "normal" for other people.
For example I heard one beautiful, creative soul call herself a pack rat recently and another creatively magical being refer to herself as a borderline hoarder. I had to disagree with both of these labels. These artists happen to have the ability to see beauty, potential and power in things that other people would discard without a second thought. To me, that's not a fault or even a quirk, that's a super power! It is something that makes me proud to know these talented women.
So maybe the things we do as artists don't seem logical to everyone. Maybe we look a little weird when we are in the throes of pursuing one creative vision or another. The important thing to remember is that it is perfectly logical to us or anyone who shares our vision. It's not weird but courageous to remain true to that vision despite what other people may think.
So the next time you or someone else is tempted to judge something you are doing as weird, just take a calming breath and say, “I'm Not Weird, I'm An Artist,” and suddenly it will all make perfect sense!
