January 2018 Update: Lost Souls Swimming In A Fish Bowl & Other Thoughts

In My New Meditation Space

Hello and Happy 2018!

At the end of 2017 I took a two week hiatus from just about everything so I could reflect and regroup.  One of the decisions that came out of that was to stop writing new posts for The Cabbage Blog, at least for awhile.  But I will still be writing for my I Believe In Art Blog (click here if you missed my 2017 Review Post there) and will probably continue to provide updates on this one at least once a month.

Another decision that I came to was that I want to focus on music more.  I'm actually continuing to make changes to my new music room and I've done a couple new videos on my youtube channel recently.  The one below I just uploaded.  It's probably my favorite Pink Floyd song and one of the first songs I learned to play on the guitar (though there's still lots of room for improvement). I was inspired to do the video in honor of the birthday of a fellow lost soul swimming in a fish bowl and good friend. ;)

Speaking of music and inspiration, my favorite musician and muse, Mr. Rick Springfield has a new album, The Snake King, coming out on January 26. He's been doing a lot of radio interviews and will be doing some television appearances this week.  One of the things he's very candid about is his ongoing struggle with depression.  It frustrates me because it is actually his openness in discussing how he deals with his depression that has helped me learn how to deal with mine very effectively.  Meditation, introspection, creativity and being persistent in the face of obstacles are all strategies I've picked up from him and they have been life changing for me.  Not to mention how much his music comforts and inspires me.  I just pray that all that good energy he's generated for me and so many other fans finds its way back to him.

Anyway, I'm really looking forward to the new album, as you may be able to tell from the chalkboard in my living room:
